Ingredients
  

For the steak marinade
  • 1 lb beef steak (Sirloin or flank steak)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (halal-compliant)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the bowls
  • 2 cups cooked white rice or brown rice, if preferred
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables bell peppers, broccoli, and zucchini are perfect choices
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for topping (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice steak against the grain into thin strips.
  2. Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, ginger powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add sliced steak and marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Cook rice according to package instructions.
Cooking
  1. In a large pan over medium heat, add a little sesame oil and sauté mixed vegetables for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  2. Push vegetables to one side of the pan and add marinated steak. Sear on high heat for 3-4 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Spoon a generous portion of rice into a bowl, followed by sautéed vegetables and juicy steak.
  2. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

For substitutions, you can use chicken or shrimp instead of steak. Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent steaming instead of searing.
