Method
Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 packet of instant yeast. Mix well to distribute the yeast and salt evenly.
- Gradually add 3/4 cup of warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until the dough begins to come together.
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Filling & Shaping
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of minced fresh herbs, 2 minced cloves of garlic, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter. Mix well.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, approximately ¼ inch thick.
- Evenly spread the herb and garlic mixture over the rolled dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seams to seal and then cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.
Baking
- Place the individual swirls in a greased baking dish, leaving a bit of space between them. Cover with the kitchen towel and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
- Serve warm and enjoy the crispy exterior and fluffy, flavorful inside!
