  • 1 cup raisins or chopped apples Your choice of addition.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed stale bread with any optional ingredients like raisins or chopped apples.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, applesauce, honey or maple syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and let it sit for at least 10 minutes to absorb.
  5. Grease a large baking dish and transfer the soaked bread mixture into the dish.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  7. Allow the bread pudding to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 15-20 minutes or microwave individual slices.
