  • 2 pieces ripe bananas (mashed) The more speckled and brown, the sweeter the brownies.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Natural sweeteners.
  • 1/4 cup almond butter or peanut butter Can substitute with sunflower seed butter or cashew butter for nut-free option.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  3. In a mixing bowl, mash the 2 ripe bananas until smooth.
  4. Add in the unsweetened cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, almond butter (or peanut butter), vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt. Mix well until everything is combined and the batter is smooth.
Baking
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  2. Lift them out using the parchment paper and slice into squares.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can freeze them for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds to maintain texture.
