Ingredients

Steak Preparation
  • 2 pieces ribeye or strip steaks (approximately 1-inch thick) Use good marbled cuts for the best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For seasoning the steaks.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground is best.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Adds flavor to the steak.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped Can be substituted with thyme or oregano.

Method

Preparation
  1. Ensure that your grill is preheated to high heat (around 450°F to 500°F) for optimal cooking. Clean and oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  2. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Drizzle olive oil over both sides of the steak, then sprinkle salt, pepper, minced garlic, and rosemary evenly. Allow it to marinate for about 15 minutes to enhance the flavors.
Grilling
  1. Place the seasoned steaks on the grill. For medium-rare, grill for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and grill for another 3-4 minutes. For medium, increase grilling time accordingly.
  2. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Aim for 130°F for medium-rare and 145°F for medium.
  3. Once done, remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for about 5-10 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  4. Slice against the grain to maximize tenderness, and serve with your choice of toppings.

Notes

Consider these tips: Choose good cuts like ribeye or New York strip, manage timing for grilling and resting, and use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for 2-3 months.
