Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a pot of boiling water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well blended.
- Gently fold the blanched green beans into the sauce mixture. Add in 1 cup of crispy fried onions, reserving some for the topping.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 2-quart baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Baking
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, remove from the oven and sprinkle the reserved fried onions on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and crispy.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
For the best flavor use fresh green beans. If you prefer, you can customize the creaminess by swapping mushroom soup for a homemade white sauce. For extra crispy onions, consider broiling them for the last minute of baking.
