  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions (plus extra for topping) Reserve some for topping.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a pot of boiling water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well blended.
  4. Gently fold the blanched green beans into the sauce mixture. Add in 1 cup of crispy fried onions, reserving some for the topping.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 2-quart baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Baking
  1. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. After 25 minutes, remove from the oven and sprinkle the reserved fried onions on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and crispy.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

For the best flavor use fresh green beans. If you prefer, you can customize the creaminess by swapping mushroom soup for a homemade white sauce. For extra crispy onions, consider broiling them for the last minute of baking.
