Ingredients
  

For the chicken
  • 1 pound chicken breast Cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

For assembling
  • 4 pieces pita breads
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup sliced cucumbers
  • 1/2 piece red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup tzatziki sauce

Method
 

Preparation and Marinade
  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Toss to coat evenly and let it rest for at least 10 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook for about 10-12 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown.
Assembling the Gyros
  1. Warm the pita bread in a skillet or microwave for a few seconds. Layer in the cooked chicken, diced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and red onion.
  2. Drizzle tzatziki sauce over the top and fold the pita bread around the fillings.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with extra veggies or tzatziki on the side.

Notes

For a twist, try using turkey or beef instead of chicken. Ensure not to overcook the chicken to keep it juicy. Store leftover components separately for up to 3 days in the fridge or wrap pitas tightly for freezing for about a month.
