Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well-combined.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the milk slowly, stirring with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together. Do not overmix; it’s okay if the dough is a bit sticky.
  5. On a floured surface, turn out the dough. Gently flatten it with your hands until it’s about 1 inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter or a round glass to cut out the biscuits. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they’re close together.
Baking
  1. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they are lightly browned on top.
  2. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with butter, honey, or your favorite toppings!

Notes

To ensure flaky biscuits, use cold butter and do not overwork the dough. Substituting milk with buttermilk can enhance flavor.
