Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C).
- Wash your oranges thoroughly and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey with crushed juniper berries and stir gently until mixed, about 3 minutes. Allow it to cool slightly.
- Use a pastry brush to evenly coat each orange slice with the honey-juniper mixture.
- Place the orange slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they don’t overlap.
Drying
- Bake the orange slices in the preheated oven for approximately 2 hours, keeping an eye to prevent burning. They should become dry and leathery but still slightly soft.
- Remove from the oven and let the slices cool on a wire rack before storing them in an airtight container.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months. No need to reheat; simply enjoy as is or use in drinks.
