  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened) Ensure at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 each Zest of 1 orange Use a fresh orange
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 each egg
  • 1 pinch salt
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For glazing
  • 2 tablespoons milk For glazing, adjust to desired thickness
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For glazing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, orange juice, and orange zest to the butter-sugar mixture, stirring until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto your prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake in your preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
  2. While the cookies cool, prepare the glaze by combining powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.
  3. Once the cookies are completely cool, drizzle the glaze over each cookie.
  4. Let the glaze set before serving.

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
