Method
Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the melted butter, salt, and gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms.
Knead and Rise
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30-40 minutes or until it doubles in size.
Shape the Rolls
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a greased baking tray.
Second Rise
- Cover the shaped rolls again with the kitchen towel and let them rise for another 20-25 minutes.
Prepare Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and minced garlic.
Bake
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the rolls with the garlic butter mixture and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool and Serve
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
- You can brush them with a bit more melted butter and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a more wholesome version, try using half whole wheat flour and half all-purpose flour. Make sure to check your rolls towards the end of baking to avoid over-browning. Don’t rush the rising time; allowing the dough to rise properly will give you those fluffy rolls you crave. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
