Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Can substitute with cheddar or a blend of cheeses.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Oil for frying (canola or vegetable oil) Use enough oil for the bombs to float while frying.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, baking powder, oregano, basil, and salt.
  2. Fold in the shredded mozzarella cheese into the dry mixture until well incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter and milk together, then gradually pour into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Using your hands, take small portions of the dough and shape them into balls, ensuring the cheese is well enclosed.
Cooking
  1. In a deep frying pan, heat oil over medium heat until hot.
  2. Carefully drop the cheese balls into the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove the cheese bombs and drain on a paper towel.
  4. Allow them to cool for a minute before serving.
