Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Can be substituted with melted coconut oil.
For the Topping
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes or until foamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  3. Once your yeast mixture is ready, add the olive oil to it. Gradually add the flour mixture to the activated yeast, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. After the rise, punch the dough down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide.
  7. Place the strips onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover with a cloth and let rise for another 10-15 minutes.
  8. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, and dried parsley.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the glaze generously over the breadsticks, and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and enjoy the warm, buttery goodness of your Garlic Breadsticks with Buttery Glaze!
