- Gather all the ingredients, ensuring the egg yolk is at room temperature for optimal results.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolk, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice until well blended.
- Stir in the minced garlic and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.
- Begin adding the olive oil very slowly, just a few drops at a time, while whisking vigorously.
- Once it begins to thicken, you can increase the oil flow to a slow steady stream.
- Taste your aioli and adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or lemon juice as necessary.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately or refrigerate until serving.
Notes
Store aioli in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Best enjoyed fresh, will stay fresh for about 3-5 days. Avoid reheating, it’s best served chilled.
