Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 slices slices of bread (your choice) Sourdough or whole grain works well.
  • 1 large large egg Fry until the yolk is runny or to desired doneness.
  • 1-2 slices slices of cheese (such as cheddar, mozzarella, or gouda) Mix different cheese flavors for a better taste.
  • 1-2 tablespoons tablespoons of butter Use enough to prevent sticking and create a golden crust.
  • 1 pinch pinch of salt To taste.
  • 1 dash dash of pepper To taste.

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter, letting it melt.
  2. Crack the egg into the pan, being careful not to break the yolk. Sprinkle salt and pepper, and fry for about 2-3 minutes until the whites are set but the yolk remains runny.
  3. While the egg is frying, spread the other tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Once the egg is cooked, remove it from the skillet. Place one slice of bread, butter side down, into the pan. Layer one slice of cheese on top, followed by the fried egg, and then add the second slice of cheese. Cover it with the second slice of bread, butter side up.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing it in half to allow the egg yolk to ooze out.

Notes

Experiment with different types of bread and cheese for variety. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
