- In a medium bowl, crack the two large eggs and whisk them thoroughly.
- Add in the milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.
- Slice your bread if it isn’t already; thick slices work best.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated. Allow the bread to soak for about 30 seconds on each side.
Cooking
- In a non-stick pan over medium heat, add the butter and let it melt thoroughly.
- Place the soaked bread slices in the heated pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
- Transfer the French toast to a plate, drizzle with maple syrup, and add your favorite toppings.
Notes
For perfect results, use thick-sliced bread, preferably a day or two-old, to absorb flavors without becoming soggy. To store leftovers, layer parchment paper between slices and refrigerate for up to 3 days, or freeze for a month.
