Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices thick slices of bread, preferably brioche or challah Use halal-compliant bread for dietary preferences.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk You can substitute with almond or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)
  • Maple syrup (for serving) Add your favorite toppings.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, crack the two large eggs and whisk them thoroughly.
  2. Add in the milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.
  3. Slice your bread if it isn’t already; thick slices work best.
  4. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated. Allow the bread to soak for about 30 seconds on each side.
Cooking
  1. In a non-stick pan over medium heat, add the butter and let it melt thoroughly.
  2. Place the soaked bread slices in the heated pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Transfer the French toast to a plate, drizzle with maple syrup, and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

For perfect results, use thick-sliced bread, preferably a day or two-old, to absorb flavors without becoming soggy. To store leftovers, layer parchment paper between slices and refrigerate for up to 3 days, or freeze for a month.
