Preparation
- If using a store-bought tart shell, prepare according to package instructions. If making your own, roll out the dough to fit a tart pan, press it into the pan, and bake until golden. Allow it to cool completely.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix the granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually stir in the water until smooth. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously, until it thickens—around 2-3 minutes. Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Assembly
- Pour the custard-like filling into the cooled tart shell, spreading it evenly. Artfully arrange the sliced strawberries on top.
Chilling
- Place the assembled tart in the refrigerator for at least an hour to set the filling.
Serving
- Just before serving, top with freshly whipped cream. Slice your tart and enjoy!
Notes
Store covered in the refrigerator for about 2-3 days. Best served chilled or allow to sit out for 15 minutes before serving.
