Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 10-15 minutes until they become soft and caramelized. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- While the onions are cooking, season chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper on both sides.
- Once the onions are caramelized, add the broth and cream to the skillet. Stir well to combine, then bring to a gentle simmer.
- Place the seasoned chicken breasts in a baking dish and pour the onion sauce over them, making sure they’re well-covered.
Baking
- Carefully transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese on top. Return it to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
- Once ready, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
For longer-lasting flavors, use fresh ingredients and cook the onions longer for a richer taste. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
