  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar Can be substituted with honey or a sugar substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a medium-sized baking dish with a little butter or cooking spray.
  3. Rinse fresh cherries, remove the pits, and slice them in half if desired.
Custard Mixture
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined.
  2. Add milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until just combined; avoid over-mixing.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Layer the pitted cherries evenly in the greased baking dish.
  2. Pour the custard mixture over the cherries.
  3. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  4. Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon for added flavor. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat before serving.
