  • 500 g minced beef Choose lean minced beef for better flavor.
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped Provides sweetness when caramelized.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For sautéing the onions.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced Adds aromatic flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Enhances the umami flavor.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste Adjust seasoning according to preference.
Pastry Ingredients
  • 1 packet of puff pastry, thawed Use high-quality puff pastry for best results.
  • 1 large egg For egg wash to achieve golden crust.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the minced beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, and let simmer for a few minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Assembling the Pies
  1. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut out circles for the base and lids of your pies.
  2. Place the cooled filling in the center of each circular pastry base, then cover with a pastry lid. Crimp the edges to seal.
  3. Brush the tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish.
Baking
  1. Place the pies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Let them cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10-15 minutes for best texture.
