Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the minced beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, and let simmer for a few minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Assembling the Pies
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut out circles for the base and lids of your pies.
- Place the cooled filling in the center of each circular pastry base, then cover with a pastry lid. Crimp the edges to seal.
- Brush the tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish.
Baking
- Place the pies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly and serve warm.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10-15 minutes for best texture.
