Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add the cubed cold butter and work it into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently fold in the chopped dried figs until well distributed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and egg.
- Create a well in the dry mixture and pour in the cream mixture. Stir until just combined.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead gently a couple of times.
- Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into wedges or use a round cutter.
- Place scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving warm.

For allergy-friendly options, substitute with dairy-free cream and vegan butter. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for a month.
