Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine chopped figs, brown sugar, honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Stir gently until figs are coated.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth it out.
- Cut the pastry into squares or circles, aiming for about 5-6 inches for each piece.
- Place a spoonful of fig mixture onto the center of each pastry piece.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges tightly with fingers or a fork.
- Beat an egg in a small bowl and brush it over the top of each pastry.
- Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
Notes
Use fresh figs if possible; dried figs can be used if soaked. Experiment with spices for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
