Ingredients

Tart Shell Ingredients
  • 1 shell pre-made tart shell Use a 9-inch tart shell.
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese Optional.
  • 1 pinch salt To enhance flavors.
Filling Ingredients
  • 8-10 pieces fresh figs, sliced Select fresh, ripe figs for best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup honey For sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds a hint of acidity.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme Optional, for topping.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the pre-made tart shell in a 9-inch tart pan. If using ricotta cheese, spread it evenly over the bottom of the shell.
  3. Carefully slice the fresh figs in half and arrange them over the ricotta or directly on the tart shell.
Topping and Baking
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Pour the honey mixture over the figs, ensuring they are generously coated. Optionally, sprinkle fresh thyme on top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the figs are lightly caramelized and the tart shell is golden brown.
Serving
  1. Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store the tart covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven to maintain the crust's integrity.
