Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined, about 2-3 minutes.
- Slowly add the whole milk and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
- Sprinkle in a pinch of salt and whisk to incorporate.
- Lightly grease a custard dish or individual ramekins.
- Pour the custard mixture into the prepared dish or ramekins, filling each about three-quarters full.
Baking
- Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 30-40 minutes, until the custard has set, jiggling slightly in the center.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
- Sprinkle some nutmeg or cinnamon on top before serving.
Notes
Use room-temperature eggs for a smoother batter. Consider using a water bath for even cooking.
