Ingredients
  

For the custard filling
  • 2 cups milk You can substitute almond or coconut milk for a different flavor twist.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
For the pie crust
  • 1 pie crust pre-baked pie crust Make sure to pre-bake the crust to achieve a golden brown finish.
For topping
  • Nutmeg For sprinkling on top before baking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Pre-bake the crust for about 10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, salt, and cornstarch until well combined.
  4. Carefully pour the custard mixture into the pre-baked pie crust.
  5. Gently sprinkle nutmeg on top for added flavor.
Baking
  1. Place the pie in the oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, until the center is set but still slightly wobbly.
  2. Allow the pie to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Keep a close eye on the pie during the last few minutes of baking to prevent overcooking. To store, cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for 3-4 days, or freeze in portions and reheat in the oven at a low temperature.
