Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Softened, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
Toppings
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Can use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts Choose your preferred nut

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  6. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the batter, then sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped nuts on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  2. Allow the bars to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.

Notes

For extra flavor, try using a mix of chocolates or add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days, or refrigerate for a week.
