  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined Choose medium to large shrimp for better texture.
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (ensure it's halal-certified)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for extra stickiness) Mix with a splash of water if using.
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
Sauce Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil.
  2. Optional: Add a tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with a splash of water to thicken the sauce.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a splash of sesame oil.
  2. Once hot, add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and slightly crispy.
  3. Pour the honey garlic mixture into the skillet, stirring to coat the shrimp evenly.
  4. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and become sticky.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat gently on low heat. Alternatively, freeze for up to a month and thaw before reheating.
