Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider Can substitute with orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adjust based on preference
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, mix together the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, apple cider, and spices. Stir well until completely combined.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  3. Let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes. You want to let the flavors meld and for the mixture to thicken slightly. You’ll know it’s done when it’s spreadable and smells heavenly!
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Allow the pumpkin butter to cool before transferring it to a jar.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months. Reheat on the stove over medium heat as needed.
