Ingredients

For the Plum Filling
  • 4 cups plums, pitted and chopped Can substitute with other fruits like peaches or cherries.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the Crumble Topping
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chopped plums, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Set aside to let the plums release their juices.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until you achieve a texture that resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Press half of the crumble mixture into the bottom of your prepared pan to form a crust. Pour the plum filling evenly over the crust, spreading it out gently. Top the plum layer with the remaining crumble mixture.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the plum filling is bubbly.
  2. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve!

Notes

Letting your bars cool completely helps them set up and prevents them from falling apart. Store in an airtight container; lasts 3-5 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to three months.
