Ingredients
  

For the cookie bars
  • 1 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is softened, not melted.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed tightly.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped Halal-friendly.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Halal-friendly.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes using an electric mixer.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined to avoid overmixing.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Once cooled, cut them into squares and serve.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is softened. Consider adding a pinch of cinnamon for flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for three months.
