Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite) Choose your preferred type of cheese.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 large egg yolk
Optional Toppings
  • hot sauce For a spicy kick.
  • chopped herbs Add your choice of herbs for extra flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, and salt. Stir to mix evenly.
  3. Add the softened butter and egg yolk, combining until the mixture is crumbly.
  4. Fold in your shredded cheese until fully combined with the dough.
  5. Take tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture, roll them into balls, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Use your thumb to press down gently on each ball, creating a small indent in the center.
  7. If you’re using any toppings, sprinkle them generously onto the thumbprints.
Baking
  1. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For variations, try mixing different types of cheese for added depth of flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator, or freeze for up to 2 months.
