Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds potatoes (Yukon gold or russet) For fluffier mashed potatoes, go for Yukon Gold or Russet.
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or plant-based) Feel free to substitute with almond or oat milk for dietary needs.
  • 4 tablespoons butter (or a plant-based alternative) Make sure to choose halal-friendly butter if needed.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized chunks, about 1 to 2 inches thick.
  2. Fill a large pot with water and add a pinch of salt. Bring the water to a rolling boil and carefully add the potato chunks.
  3. Boil the potatoes until tender, around 15-20 minutes, depending on the size of the chunks.
  4. Drain the potatoes in a colander and let them sit for a couple of minutes to remove excess moisture.
  5. Return the potatoes to the pot or place them in a large mixing bowl. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.
  6. Add the milk and butter, mixing until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Transfer the Easy Mashed Potatoes to a serving dish and enjoy them warm.

Notes

For added depth, consider adding garlic powder, chives, or cheddar cheese for a cheesy twist while keeping it halal compliant. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for 1-2 months. Reheat on the stovetop over low heat with a splash of milk.
