- In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but does not smoke.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and cook for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.
- Increase the heat to high and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned evenly.
- Once browned, drain any excess fat if necessary and reduce the heat to medium. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper, and cook for 2-3 more minutes.
- Spoon the beef mixture over cooked rice in individual bowls.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and optional sesame seeds.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove with a splash of water or broth for best results.
