  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar To balance acidity

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic, stirring for an additional minute until fragrant.
Cooking
  1. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Stir well to combine.
  2. Add the dried basil, oregano, sugar, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Stir until everything is well mixed.
  4. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Taste your sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  6. Serve hot over your preferred pasta and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

For best flavor, let the sauce simmer longer if time allows. Avoid burning garlic while sautéing to prevent bitterness.
