Method
Prepare the Broth
- In a large pot, combine the beef broth, sliced onion, ginger, star anise, cinnamon stick, and cloves. Bring it to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
Cook the Noodles
- While the broth is simmering, bring a separate pot of water to boil. Add the rice noodles and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 3-5 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water.
Add the Beef
- After the broth has simmered, add the thinly sliced Halal beef and let it cook for about 2-3 minutes.
Season the Broth
- Stir in the fish sauce and adjust seasoning as desired.
Assemble Your Bowls
- To serve, place a portion of the cooked noodles into each bowl and ladle the hot broth with beef over them. Top with fresh basil, bean sprouts, green onions, and lime juice.
Enjoy
- Dive in with chopsticks or a spoon and relish every warming bite!
Notes
Store leftovers with broth and noodles separately in airtight containers for 3-4 days. Freeze broth for longer storage. Reheat broth and add noodles before serving to maintain texture.
