Ingredients

Frosting Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use fresh, high-quality butter for best results.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Sifted for better mixing.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Feel free to substitute with almond extract for a different flavor.
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk (or almond milk for a unique twist) Add gradually to reach desired consistency.
  • a pinch salt To balance sweetness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and tools. An electric mixer works best, but a whisk can be used.
  2. In a mixing bowl, use your mixer to cream the softened butter until it’s light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition to avoid a sugary cloud.
  4. Pour in the vanilla extract and add a pinch of salt. Mix until fully incorporated.
  5. If needed, add milk a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency. If it’s too runny, add more powdered sugar.
  6. Taste the frosting and adjust the flavorings as desired.
  7. Spread the frosting generously on cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week, or freeze for up to three months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and re-whip before use.
