Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Wash and pit fresh cherries, or use frozen cherries directly. Sprinkle half the sugar over the cherries and set aside.
Batter Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the remaining sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Stir until smooth.
- Add the melted butter and vanilla extract, and stir until fully combined.
Baking
- Pour the batter over the cherries in the prepared baking dish. Do not stir.
- Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Serving
- Allow the cobbler to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes to restore texture.
