Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries Wash and pit if using fresh.
  • 1 cup sugar Divide for mixing with cherries.
Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter Melted.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Wash and pit fresh cherries, or use frozen cherries directly. Sprinkle half the sugar over the cherries and set aside.
Batter Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the remaining sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Stir until smooth.
  2. Add the melted butter and vanilla extract, and stir until fully combined.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter over the cherries in the prepared baking dish. Do not stir.
  2. Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Serving
  1. Allow the cobbler to cool for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes to restore texture.
