Preparation
- Start by washing your fresh tomatoes. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
- Lay the tomatoes flat on a cutting board, and slice them into thick, even rounds—about half an inch thick works perfectly.
- Slice the fresh mozzarella into even rounds as well.
- On a serving platter, alternate layering a slice of tomato, a slice of mozzarella, and a basil leaf. Continue this pattern until you've used all the ingredients.
- Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the entire salad. Finish with a sprinkle of salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste.
- Enjoy this bright and flavorful salad fresh!
Notes
If you can't find fresh mozzarella, try using burrata for an even creamier texture! Avoid using overly ripe tomatoes; they can turn mushy. Serve immediately for the best flavor.
