Ingredients

For the salad
  • 2 large fresh tomatoes Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese Use fresh mozzarella for a creamy texture.
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves Use fresh basil for fragrance.
For the dressing
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by washing your fresh tomatoes. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Lay the tomatoes flat on a cutting board, and slice them into thick, even rounds—about half an inch thick works perfectly.
  3. Slice the fresh mozzarella into even rounds as well.
  4. On a serving platter, alternate layering a slice of tomato, a slice of mozzarella, and a basil leaf. Continue this pattern until you've used all the ingredients.
  5. Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the entire salad. Finish with a sprinkle of salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste.
  6. Enjoy this bright and flavorful salad fresh!

Notes

If you can't find fresh mozzarella, try using burrata for an even creamier texture! Avoid using overly ripe tomatoes; they can turn mushy. Serve immediately for the best flavor.
