Preparation
- Gather all the ingredients on a clean surface.
- Lightly toast the bread slices if you prefer a crunchy texture.
- Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
Assembly
- Place the lettuce leaves on one slice of bread.
- Add the sliced tomatoes on top of the lettuce.
- Place a slice of cheese over the tomatoes.
- If using, add any additional protein on top of the cheese.
- Top with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down, and press gently.
- Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, avoid overcrowding the sandwich. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in foil at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
