Ingredients
  

For the Fish
  • 1 pound Key White Fish Fillets (e.g., tilapia or cod) Use firm white fish for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons Blackening Seasoning Can be made from paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil For cooking the fish.
For the Tacos
  • 6-8 pieces Corn or Flour Tortillas Use whichever you prefer.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cabbage Adds crunch and color.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Cilantro, chopped For freshness.
  • 1 piece Avocado, sliced (optional) Adds creaminess.
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream or Mayo (optional) For a creamy topping.
  • 1 piece Lime, cut into wedges For serving and extra zing.

Method
 

Prepare the Fish
  1. Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides of the fish generously with the blackening seasoning.
Cook the Fish
  1. Heat the olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Place the seasoned fillets in the hot skillet, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a dark crust forms.
  3. Flip the fish carefully and cook for another 2-3 minutes until cooked through.
Warm the Tortillas
  1. Place the tortillas in a separate dry skillet over low heat, warming for about 30 seconds on each side.
Assemble Tacos
  1. Place a portion of blackened fish in the center of each tortilla, top with shredded cabbage, cilantro, and any desired toppings.
Serve
  1. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the top and serve with extra lime wedges.

Notes

For variety, feel free to use alternative firm white fish such as snapper or halibut. Use fresh herbs for the best flavor.
