Ingredients

For the beef marinade
  • 1 lb beef (sliced thinly) Choose a tender cut for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use tamari for gluten-free version.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce Optional for added depth of flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Helps tenderize the beef and thicken the sauce.
For the stir-fry
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Chop into small, evenly sized pieces.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced) Freshly minced for the best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (minced) Fresh ginger enhances the dish's aroma.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For stir-frying; can substitute with sesame oil for flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust seasoning according to preference.
  • Cooked rice for serving Use as a base for the beef and broccoli.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef evenly. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare the broccoli florets and other ingredients while the beef marinates.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they start to turn bright green.
  2. Push the broccoli to one side of the skillet, and add the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to high and add the marinated beef. Stir-fry everything together for about 5-7 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and tender.
  4. Taste the mixture and season with salt and pepper as needed. Ensure everything is well combined and heated through.
  5. Serve over cooked rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

To add variety, substitute chicken or tofu for the beef. To retain the freshness of the broccoli, have all ingredients prepped before starting to cook.
