Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk Can use almond milk or oat milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure it's halal-compliant
Filling and Toppings
  • 2 cups diced apples Preferably Granny Smith for tartness
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar For glaze
  • 1 tablespoon milk For glaze

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix in the milk and melted butter. Stir until smooth.
  4. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until just combined. If the batter is a bit lumpy, that’s okay.
  5. Fold in the diced apples softly until evenly distributed in the batter.
Layering and Baking
  1. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Set aside.
  2. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture over the batter, then pour the remaining batter on top. Finally, sprinkle the rest of the brown sugar mixture over the top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Glazing
  1. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack.
  2. Mix the powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk in a small bowl to create the glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
  3. Slice the bread and serve warm. Enjoy the delightful aroma and flavors!
