Ingredients

Fritter Ingredients
  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled, cored, and finely chopped)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk Can substitute with almond or oat milk for lactose-free version.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • enough spray cooking spray for air frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel, core, and finely chop the apples. Place them in a bowl and set them aside.
  2. In another bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk these ingredients together until evenly mixed.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; then fold in the chopped apples.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop rounded spoonfuls of the mixture into the air fryer basket. Be sure not to overcrowd them; leave some space for air circulation.
  3. Lightly spray the fritters with cooking spray. Cook in the air fryer for about 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through. They should turn golden brown when done.
  4. Once cooked, remove them from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly. Top with your choice of honey, cinnamon sugar, or powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store leftover fritters in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for about 5 minutes. Can freeze in a single layer for up to two months.
