Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • ¾ cup warm water (around 110°F/43°C) Temperature is key to activating the yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar Helps activate the yeast.

Method

Preparation
  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour and salt, then create a well in the center. Pour in the yeast mixture along with the olive oil.
  3. Knead the Dough: Stir with a wooden spoon until combined, then transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Let it Rise: Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover it with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm spot for 20-30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Shape and Bake: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). After the dough has risen, punch it down, and roll it out to your preferred thickness. Place it on a pizza stone or baking sheet. Add your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings, then bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Let your pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing. Gather your family around the table, and enjoy!

Notes

For extra tips, use different types of flour for varied texture, prepare toppings in advance, and preheat your baking sheet for even cooking. Store leftover dough in the refrigerator or freeze it for later use.
