Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (plain, unsweetened) Must be plain and unsweetened
  • 1 cup self-rising flour Can substitute with homemade self-rising flour
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash) To give the bagels a golden color

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and self-rising flour. Stir until the mixture forms a rough dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 1-2 minutes until it’s smooth. Don't over-knead; you want to keep that perfect chewy texture!
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a log about 8-10 inches long, then shape it into a bagel by joining the ends together.
  5. Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the bagels to give them that beautiful golden color.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the bagels are golden brown.
  2. Remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before indulging.

Notes

Substitutions: If you don’t have self-rising flour, you can make your own by combining all-purpose flour with baking powder and salt. Storing: Place in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5-10 minutes until warm.
