Preparation
- Rinse the fresh spinach under cool running water. Shake off excess water, but it’s okay if it’s slightly damp.
- In a medium-sized skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet, stirring quickly to avoid burning. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Toss in the fresh spinach, stirring constantly for about 2-3 minutes until it wilts. You want it tender but not overly cooked.
- Drizzle in the soy sauce and mix thoroughly to combine it with the spinach and garlic. Sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the dish. Give it a gentle toss before transferring to a serving bowl.
- Enjoy warm as a delightful side dish or even a light main!
Notes
If you don’t have sesame oil, try olive oil for a different flavor, keeping in mind it won't provide the same nutty taste. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
