  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs Crack them into the bowl one at a time.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract For additional flavor.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa for depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to mix semi-sweet and dark chocolate.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set but the center is still soft.
  3. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to a week. You can freeze cookies for up to three months. For a fresh-out-of-the-oven feel, microwave thawed cookies for 10-15 seconds.
