Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is softened for a flaky crust.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the filling
  • 6-8 Italian plums, pitted and sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan, making sure to cover the bottom and sides evenly. Use a fork to poke holes in the bottom of the crust.
  4. Arrange the sliced Italian plums in the tart shell, overlapping them for an appealing look.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle evenly over the plums.
Baking
  1. Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the plums are tender.
  2. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Enjoy warm or at room temperature, possibly with a scoop of your favorite halal vanilla ice cream. For substitutions, use other seasonal fruits like peaches or nectarines if plums are not available.
