Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until a dough forms.
- Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan, making sure to cover the bottom and sides evenly. Use a fork to poke holes in the bottom of the crust.
- Arrange the sliced Italian plums in the tart shell, overlapping them for an appealing look.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle evenly over the plums.
Baking
- Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the plums are tender.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Enjoy warm or at room temperature, possibly with a scoop of your favorite halal vanilla ice cream. For substitutions, use other seasonal fruits like peaches or nectarines if plums are not available.
