Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) before you begin mixing your ingredients.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. This process usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For thicker cookies, try chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, microwave for 10-15 seconds or warm in the oven at 300°F (150°C).
