Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles
  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced (use halal-friendly cuts) Sirloin or flank steak works best
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (ensure halal)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • for garnish Green onions

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if necessary. Toss in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender yet still crisp.
  4. Return the cooked beef to the skillet with broccoli. Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce. Stir well to combine, letting the flavors meld together for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Carefully add the cooked lo mein noodles to the skillet. Drizzle with sesame oil and toss everything together until the noodles are fully coated and heated through.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For freezing, place cool lo mein in a freezer-safe container for 2-3 months. Reheat in microwave or skillet with a splash of water.
